Project Description

Tabitha

Tabitha was my great-grandmother on my father’s side of the family. She was a native-American Cherokee. Here she is presented pregnant, beside a stream which reflects moonlight. In this, as in all the Wisdom pieces, the attachments hanging on either side represent Wisdom’s jewelry. The small deer refers to the meaning of her name in Aramaic. In the New Testament she is referred to as a woman “full of good works and almsdeeds.” 30″ x 60″  1987
