PROMISED LAND (1989)

The Cherokee's forced march from their homeland is used as an archetype of displacement. The gold of the earth becomes a symbol for all that binds us to the past, greed and injustice. The people move toward the future, through grief and despair, remembering their experiences but also carrying the seeds of hope and renewed vision within. Collage and embroidery. 40" x 30".
