Welcome to Wisdom’s Table

The Galleries of Sylvia and William Everett

William Johnson Everett

While my own career was devoted to teaching, writing and research in the area of Christian ethics, theology, and ecclesiology, since about 2000 I have dedicated a great deal of time to my life-long love of woodworking.

My woodworking arises not only out of my love for wood and craft but also as an expression of my theological commitment to a worship that draws people into circles of conversation and mutual nurture. On this site you can follow the menus above and to the side to get a look at some of my furniture, woodturning and sculptural pieces. You can find out more about my professional life and my writings at my blogsite, www.WilliamEverett.com.

Welcome to Wisdom’s Table, the name of my studio and this website of my work over the past thirty years. I began with stitchery pieces, like the Wisdom series, in 1986, and then moved into tapestry, painted silk, mosaics, and papercuts. Along the way I created numerous artistic settings for worship. From 1995 to 2001 I was a resident artist at Andover Newton Theological School, where I helped develop the Theology and Arts program. You can see works in these various media here as well as some of the designs for them and some of the series that knit several works together. Simply follow the pull-down menus at the top of the page or on the sidebar that appears with the galleries.

The logo that you see in the upper left corner of this page is my signature in my art pieces. It represents the table of Wisdom. The dot underneath the table represents the cosmic egg of Creation. You can always click on the logo to return to this Home page.

To find out more about me and my work, go to the pull-down menu at the top of the page.
